Said My Goodbyes

IMG_1620I have been out of school going on two weeks tomorrow, and it has taken me this long to get around to writing this post.  While I am once again thankful for an opportunity that has come my way, my heart is also heavy.

I just finished a year teaching sixth graders in middle school.  It was my first year as a sixth grade teacher, and I remember shortly after the beginning of the year I wondered what in the world I had gotten myself into.  It was an adjustment for me, and my students went along for the ride.  I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that leaving 90 sixth graders would be so hard.  It took all I had to contain the tears.  My school year went from holy moly, what have I gotten myself into, to building some of the most amazing relationships with these kids.

It wasn’t until the last month of school that I began to realize exactly what type of an impact these kids had not only on me, but that I also had on them.  I can truly from the bottom of my heart tell you that this past year was probably one of my best.  I learned not only a lot about myself as a teacher, but was reminded that no matter the age, kids are still kids and that bonds are inevitable if you love what you do!

I was showered with love from these kids, and it’s a must that share it with you!
